Don’t Touch My Nylons by Marie Bryant

Marie Bryant (1917-1978) was a popular exotic dancer of the late 1930s and early 1940s. When her dancing career ended, she started a successful singing career. One of the greats of black entertainment she appeared in numerous films.

In the title track of this LP, Marie’s boyfriend Johnny can’t keep his hands off her statically charged underwear. Not sure when the LP was released, the late ’50s or early ’60s. The cover photograph of Pamela Green is by Harrison-Marks.

I’ve always been a fan of Calypso. It makes a great soundtrack to those long lazy summer days. I feel the title track would have made a good addition to the London is the Place for Me compilation album that was released by Honest Jon’s Records back in 2003.
